We are Paul and Ange Lucas and we have been keeping discus since 1994 now and have successfully been breeding them for around the last 7 years although we now mainly import our fish from Malaysia. In this time we have learned many things about these fascinating fish. We have enjoyed the highs and suffered the lows which keeping these fish can bring .We have recently become stockists of the new Tony Tan Discus Food and we are so impressed with it that we feel it is worthy of its own website!
We have a purpose built building for our discus. There are two 650 gallon systems which are extremely versatile in that tanks can be isolated if needed. We keep juveniles and resting stock on these systems. Our breeding pairs are kept on a 150 gallon system comprising 7 tanks which, again, can be isolated if needs be. These fish have ideal breeding water with parameters around 100uS and PH 6.5 to 7.00 We keep a further 11 tanks on another system which hold pairs of fish at around 180µS and a PH of around 7.00 We also have 2 quarantine systems of 100 gallons each which speak for themselves.
The fish we usually have available are varied in strain and size - ranging from 2.5” babies to juvenile adults; breeding pairs are also available at times. We are also fortunate that at this present time we have a selection of Wild Fish which have been caught especially for us by the world renowned collector and ichthyologist Mr Heiko Bleher. All fish offered for sale are fully quarantined for a minimum of 3 weeks until they are at the peak of health before being offered to the public.
If you have any questions about keeping discus please e-mail me and I will try to help. Take a look at our links page – you’ll find some excellent sites just oozing with information.
If you know you will be visiting the Southampton area and you would like to visit, give us a ring first and if we are available, we’ll arrange a mutually convenient time for a visit.
We are about 1.5 hours from Central London; 2 hours from Bristol; and around 1 hour from Oxford which is no distance, when we believe we have one of the best selections of discus in the UK
We look forward to hearing from you - soon!
